Lessons in conquering next frontier

I have no experience in multimedia, and the idea of producing it is intimidating. The presentation on multimedia by Val Hoeppner, manager of multimedia education at the Diversity Institute, was compelling. The presentation taught me two things: interns in today's world are expected to know more and more and contribute content beyond print, and multimedia is the next frontier emerging journalists have to conquer.
Perhaps the reason I'm intimidated is because I have a perfectionist attitude, and learning new skills is frustrating and stressful if I don't pick them up right away. I am, however, willing and ready to expand my repertoire.
